This article will introduce a nonstandard definition of the 'solution' of an ordinary differential equation (ODE). I hope that this article will start some discussion; further, I hope that this article will have some effect on the ambitious European CATHODE project, which is attempting to provide tools in computer algebra for handling ordinary differential equations.
