Abstract
By using state selective optical potentials for neutral atoms stored in an optical lattice potential we demonstrate controlled collisions between atoms on neighbouring lattice sites. Such a system can be of great use for quantum information processing or for simulating fundamental condensed matter physics Hamiltonians.
