Abstract
A trenchless pipeline HDD crossing is a key project of oil and gas pipeline construction. Although technology is relatively mature, with the requirements of larger diameter, longer crossing span and much more complex geological conditions, a lot of problems have emerged in the design and construction process. Thus, failure of project cases are markedly increased and will eventually result in great loss. Currently, a long distance, large diameter HDD crossing in complex geological conditions has many key issues. This article analyzes the HDD technology status and existing problems in China. It discusses the design and construction ideas and development direction in the future for HDD, utilizing the aided design tools, improved design and construction quality to guide the smooth implementation of HDD construction.
