Abstract

Apart from the organizations conducting large-scale countrywide surveys, most of the large business houses today maintain large databases for controlling and improving their business processes. Naturally, data quality is a critical issue for these organizations. Consequently, data quality has emerged as a very important field of research. However, most of the research conducted is either generic in nature or deals with the problems faced in survey data. In this article, an attempt has been made to develop a framework for addressing the data quality problems that may be faced in implementation of Statistical Process Control. Specifically, a new set of data quality classes is proposed and various data quality problems are classified accordingly.
