Abstract
The modulational instability produced by broad spectra of Langmuir oscillations in a plasma in a magnetic field is investigated. The influence of Langmuir turbulence on low-frequency waves is adequately described by introducing an ’’effective temperature’’ of the oscillations. Criteria of modulational instability are given explicitly.
