Abstract

Historically, the principal functions of a loader have been to: • Determine the operational locations of a program's parts (instructions and data). • Translate all non-absolute references (relative location addresses of data and instructions, and inter-program part references) to their absolute forms. • Make the initial placement of data and instructions in core so that the program may be properly executed.
