Suicide: The Role of Hostility and Death Wishes from the Family and Significant Others

Milton Rosenbaum, Joseph Richman

Open publisher page 54 citations

Abstract

The role of the suicidal patient's hostility is better known than the effect of his family`s hostility upon him. The authors found that suicidal patients' families expressed more extreme hostility and offered less support than the families of nonsuicidal patients. Successful suicide, they believe, is partly a result of his intimates' hostility and the victim's inability to retaliate.
