Abstract
A detailed calculation of the rate of dissociation of an electronically and vibrationally excited molecule (photochemical dissociation) is compared with the experimental data for ketene. The results are consistent with unimolecular reaction rate theory. However, the data are not accurate enough to provide unambiguous values for the parameters in the theory.
