The growth of a tomato rotting organism, Fusarium oxysporum sensu Sny. and Hans., in synthetic liquid medium was reduced by decreasing O2 concentration, but stimulated when the reduced O2 atmospheres were supplemented with 2.5 to15% concentrations of CO2. Fusarium oxysporum grew better in air than in any of the gas treatments.
