Abstract

Abstract The polarographic reduction of some arylidene salicylichydrazides at a dropping mercury electrode was studied in universal buffer solutions containing 40 % ethanol. The mechanism of the electrode processes corresponding to the observed cathodic wave is reported. The effect of substituent group on the half‐wave potential has also been discussed. The values of the kinetic parameters for the electrode reaction at different pH values are computed using the Koutecky and Delahay equations.
