Abstract

The article looks back to see where the world economy has come from, to identify the economic laws of motion of the world we live in. It identifies an agenda of current, pressing, global problems which the world economy faces at the end of the twentieth century. Finally, it projects these forward, drawing up a picture of how the world is likely to look in the next century. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
