Abstract
ABSTRACT The use of exploration and appraisal wells in the development of offshore fields is essential in areas where the majority of new discoveries are likely to be classified as marginal. The initial selection of subsea wellhead equipment can dictate the viability of utilising the well at a later stage. Standardisation and completion flexibility must be incorporated into the specification of subsea wellheads. The paper discusses how this has been achieved by one major operator through the specification of a universal subsea wellhead system.
