Abstract

A new Zn(II) coordination polymer with and has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, and element analysis. Complex [Zn(bda)(bpa)]n (1) [H2bda = 2,4′-biphenyl-dicarboxylic acid, and bpa = bis(4-pyridyl)amine is monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 16.518(5), b = 8.600 (5), c = 16.819 (5) Å, β = 115.318 (5)°, V = 2159.7 (16) Å3, Z = 4, Mr = 476.78, Dc = 1.466g/cm3, F(000) = 976, and μ = 1.173 mm−1. The final refinement gave R = 0.0355 and wR = 0.0670 for 2534 reflections with I > 2σ(I). X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the complex 1 displays a two-dimensional structure with helical chain substructure.
