Abstract
A new generalized ansatz and Jacobi elliptic function expansion method are used to construct new double periodic solutions to nonlinear wave equations. The main idea of our method is to take full advantage of the elliptic equations satisfied by Jacobi elliptic functions and to use their solutions to replace Jacobi elliptic functions in the Jacobi elliptic function method. Some illustrative equations are investigated by this means.
