Abstract
Gyms are nondiffuse large boxes and have unusual room acoustics challenges related to safety, durability, and volume. Classic room acoustics analysis methods, such as that of Fitzroy and Sabine, measurements, as well as acoustical modeling software results are compared. Speech intelligility results from the room acoustics software are compared against traditional reverberation time criteria. What has been learned about criteria and calculation methods is shared.
