Abstract
This paper presents three-color photoelectric observations of the 36.57-day eclipsing binary SX Cas obtained on 67 nights during 1961-1963. Magnitudes and colors in the U,B,V system are determined and the colors of the component stars discussed. Outside eclipse considerable variations in light and colors are observed, particularly at phases near the outer contacts of the primary minimum. At total eclipse an uitra- violet excess of >0A mag is found. The observed duration of the secondary minimum may be much longer than that of the primary minimum. The present series of observations does not show the reported variation in width of the principal eclipse with wavelength.
