Abstract

A simple packet delay jitter analytical model is developed for wireless networks utilising IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). The proposed model computes average packet delay and packet delay variability and is fairly accurate since analytical results closely match simulation outcome. The effect of network size and packet size on delay jitter is examined.
