Hrouda* (National Oil Corporation) SUMMARY A regional study of the optical geochemical and biomarker maturity properties of organic matter dispersed in the Silurian and Devonian shales of the Ghadames Basin reveal a trend of increasing maturity for Lower Silurian hot-shale from middle mature (expulsion oil zone) in the North and southeast to very mature (gas generation zone) towards the central and southwestern parts of the Ghadames Basin. The vitrinite reflectance values for Upper Devonian Tahara and Aouinet Ouenine formation appear over estimated
