Abstract
The concern that mankind will run out of exhaustible resources is as old as the large scale exploitation of these resources. In this article the author analyses fossil fuels and his conclusion is decisive: We will not run out of oil, gas and coal. Instead he argues that fossil fuels will contine to have a very important role to play in the world's energy supply and that the most probable development is that the world's supply of energy can be secured at stable or falling costs until alternative forms of energy become established.
