Abstract
Light intensity modulations in the region of a Bessel beam formed when laser radiation passes through an absorbing axicon are studied. Since light absorption occurs predominantly in close-to-tip regions of absorbing axicon, spatial modulations are suppressed and the Bessel beam region becomes smoother and more uniform.
