An occurrence of Lower Carboniferous lavas at Monksgrave (Powmill) near Dollar

Synopsis Volcanic rocks exposed at Monksgrave which were formerly assigned to the Lower Devonian Ochil Volcanic Formation are now assigned to the Lower Carboniferous Clyde Plateau volcanic rocks. The new correlation is made on the basis of chemical and lithological similarities of the Monksgrave rocks to Lower Carboniferous volcanic rocks in the neighbouring Cleish Hills.
