Abstract

ABSTRACT COMMERCIALLY available rangeland drills are not suitable for the seeding of small replicated plots. We constrcuted a small-plot seeder with 8 interchangeable seed placement devices which can meter any size or shape of seed over a pre-set distance. Seedbed preparation equipment designed to match the seeder provided a method of simulating rangeland seedbeds prepared by anchor chaining, roller chopping or disking. Rates of 25 to 50 plots/h have been maintained on a sustained basis during field installations..
