Abstract
For three different definitions of the correlation coefficient concept is examined whether the G index is a correlation coefficient or not. According to the Pearson definition it is not. However, it is equal to the Pearson coefficient, obtained from double scoring. The G index is shown to be a correlation coefficient according to the definition by Kendall. It is also shown to be an E-correlation coefficient.
