Abstract
Two colonies consisting of 3 male and 3 female squirrel monkeys each were studied. The frequency of genital display and feeding order were measured. The animals were examined prior to experimental manipulation, following castration of the dominant male, following androgen treatment of the dominant female and, finally, during androgen treatment of the castrated male. Stable dominance hierarchies were formed. Hormonal manipulation had little influence upon genital display. Influence on feeding order appeared related to hormone-dependent changes in appetite.
