Abstract
The evolution of the modulational instability and the onset of turbulence caused by a constant pump wave are studied numerically. The results show that the dissipation of plasma-wave energy through electron collisions does not stop the growth of these waves in this case, and an approximately steady state can be reached only if there is resonant absorption by fast electrons.
