Abstract
Quantization of a classical string leads to an increase in the effective tension by an amount which is formally independent of the classical value. We therefore conjecture that a classically massless string terminating on a $q$ and $\overline{q}$, such as that proposed recently by Vinciarelli, would result in their confinement.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
