Abstract
A group of diabetes insipidus (D.I.) rats and a control group of normal rats were anesthetized with 12% ethanol (5% of body weight) and injected with varying doses of arginine- vasopressin (AVP, bovine origin). Urine flow was monitored by means of an electric dropcounter. D.I. rats demonstrated increasingly greater sensitivity to 10 μU (p <0.2) and to 25 μU vasopressin (p<0.05) than did normal rats. No difference in sensitivity was noticeable between the 2 groups of rats for AVP doses of 2.5 and 5 μU (Endocrinology80: 1168, 1967)
