Abstract

A normal laboratory colony of Blatella germanica (L.) was selected for diazinon resistance. The selected colony developed resistance lo topical diazinon (26×) and malathion (27×), and became cross resistant to 3 other major classes of organic insecticides represented by DDT (>40×), propoxur (18×), and pyrethrins (23×). When injected, diazinon resistance decreased to 6× and DDT to 2×; resistance to injected propoxur (14×) or pyrethrins (34×) was not very different from their topical values, Reduced penetration of insecticide may be a resistance mechanism against some insecticides in this strain.
