Abstract

A photoelectric skylight polarimeter employing a retardation plate as a polarization modulator with constant angular and linear apertures is described in detail. The operational wavelength range of the instrument extends from the near ultraviolet to the far end of the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum (∼3000 to 6500 Å). A brief discussion of the possible uses of the instrument is given.
