이 도입한 초음파 수정체유화술 (phacoemulsification)은 지난 30년간 발전을 거듭 하여 작은 절개창으로 수술이 가능해졌으며, 수술 후 빠른 시력 회복과 난시 발생이 적어 현재는 대부분에서 표준으로 선택되는 수술방법이다.
