Abstract

This paper presents a statistical comparison of evaporation from quart cans and a class A Weather Bureau pan for a humid and a semiarid area. Correlations of can evaporation with pan evaporation were significant, and correlation with evapotranspiration was as good as that of pan evaporation. The results indicate that small cans merit consideration as a means of estimating evaporation or for scheduling irrigation.
