Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reflect the result of research and suggested improvement that will be applied to the typical home air-conditioning system during summer usage. This report will be separate into four major sections. They are the compressor, condenser, evaporator and the thermostatic expansion valve (TEV).Research study and suggestions on thermodynamics for compressor and condenser, heat transfer and feedback on TEV and evaporator will be investigated in the present system to lower cost. Cooling load volumes will be also included to estimate the required amount of refrigerant required to cool the room. A number of investigations conducted for the air-conditioning system individual components in the past are reviewed at the main chapters. The reviews were conducted with the objective of identifying the conditions that would affect the performance of the whole air-conditioning system. Investigations were conducted to find out how performance of the condenser and evaporator between the suction, transition and outlet pressure, temperature and status. Investigations were also carried out to study the performance of the compressor and TEV that are used with various refrigerants on charts. Then, graphs will also show the transverse tube spacing and longitudinal tube spacing to analysis the irreversibility due to the trading off of these effects. The data is extracted from the literature and presented in the report. The report gives explanations to all the experiments and researches reviewed. Formulations and assumptions are also described in the report. A summary and conclusion will be made to end the paper in the end.
