Abstract

The TASCC facility at the Chalk River Laboratories of AECL in Canada is the major heavy-ion research facility in the country, and is open to scientists throughout the world. The center (see Figure 1) features a 15 MV MP Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator coupled to a K520 superconducting cyclotron, providing a wide range of beams from 1 A MeV (from the Tandem) up to 50 A MeV from the cyclotron. Elements from protons (Tandem only) to Uranium can be accelerated. Figure 2 shows beams which have been extracted from the cyclotron.
