Sexual Permissiveness and Religious Orientation

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between religious orientation and premarital sexual permissiveness for males and females whose ages ranged from 16 to 54 years. It was hypothesized and found that persons with an intrinsic religious orientation ( n = 48) tended to be less permissive than persons classified as indiscriminately proreligious ( n = 40). Further, both groups were less permissive than extrinsically religious subjects ( n = 63).
