Abstract The method of fluorination using antimony pentachloride and anhydrous hydrogen fluoride1 has, by a simple modification, been extended to allow the almost quantitative conversion of the ‐C,Cl3 radical to ‐CF3, in chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, as‐tetrachloroethane, and methyl chloroform.
