Abstract
In the treatment of carotid artery disease, two most commonly used surgical techniques for carotid endarterectomy are the Conventional Endarterectomy and the Eversion Endarterectomy. A relatively newer technique which is a combination of these two, has also been described with distinct advantages. In our analysis of this technique, which is known as Modified Eversion Endarterectomy (MEE), it is a safe and effective way of treating carotid artery stenosis, with acceptable early morbidity and mortality. It incorporates favorable aspects of both conventional as well as eversion carotid endarterectomy. To us, this technique appears to be promising, however, full validation would require appropriate long-term evaluation.
