Abstract

A pictorial description of five important types of generalized inverse is expounded, based on dual vector spaces.Five wellknown representations of three of the types are then pictorially displayed. Finally, the pictorial approach, which is coordinate-free, is applied to give concise versions of four standard approaches to affine estimation for the general linear model.
