Abstract

A comparative study of strains of fungi with a Sporothrix conidial arrangement, was made by agar-gel precipitation. The strains were isolated from lesions of human sprotrichosis (S. schenckii) or from natural habitats (Sporothrix sp.). Three of the latter produced a sexual form of reproduction (Ceratocystis). There is sufficiently close antigenic relationship between the strains examined to confirm that they are a homogenous group and in particular that Ceratocystis stenoceras is a perfect state of Sporothrix schenckii.
