Abstract
Spectrograms covering the 5400-6600 A wavelength region for a moderately extensive sample of O3-B8 stars are reproduced and discussed. Emphasis is placed on spectral features from ions poorly represented in the blue-violet classification region, or which display exceptional behavior, particularly the CIII 5696 A emission line in the O stars. A number of Wolf-Rayet, OBN/OBC, Oe/Be, and other peculiar objects is included. Attention is drawn to several noteworthy phenomena such as C IV emission in WN-A stars and Fe II emission in an Oe spectrum.
