Abstract

The iridium(O) carbonyl cluster, Ir4(CO)12 (1), and rhodium(O) carbonyl cluster, Rh6(CO)16 (2), were prepared from the reactions of [Ir(COD)(PhCN)2]BF4 (3) and [Rh(COD)(PhCN)2]BF4 (4) (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) with CO (2 atm) and H2 (7 atm) at 100 °C in high yield (>95 %).
