Abstract
This paper discusses the role which Internet of Things technology plays in enhancing the level of intelligent road traffic management, and its benefits by analyzing the development of intelligent traffic management system and its existing problems in China. This paper expounds the current-stage application of Internet of Things technology in road traffic management fields, such as motor vehicle and driver management, traffic signal control, and electronic toll collection. Next it looks forward to the future application of Internet of Things technology in road traffic management fields, such as traffic command center, management of traffic law enforcement, traffic accident prevention, and management of traffic equipment and facilities. The paper also makes suggestions on facilitating the application of Internet of Things in traffic management, in terms of strengthening organization and guidance, research on critical technology, demonstrative application, and standards formulation.
