Abstract

In a consecutive study of oral and oropharyngeal carcinomas in Visakhapatnam, India, 356 carcinomas of the hard palate were observed; 327 of the palatal carcinomas occurred in reverse smokers of chuttas (cigars). Out of these 327 cases 233 were found in females. The relationship between reverse smoking of chuttas and carcinoma of the hard palate is discussed.
