Christianity in European School Education: National Heritage or World Religion?

Abstract
This article refers firstly to the general development of religious education in European countries. Secondly, approaches to the teaching of Christianity are compared with the teaching of religions other than Christianity in selected countries. Then similarities and differences are highlighted. Finally, an evaluation against the background of growing European co‐operation is presented.
