A scheme is described for producing interstellar molecules of large size by association reactions of neutral radicals. Molecule densities are calculated for an interstellar cloud of 500 M⊙, total hydrogen density |$3 \times 10^{3} \,\text{cm}^{-3}$| in which molecules are destroyed by photodissociation. The significance of these results is discussed.
