Abstract
Recent advances in computers and their capabilities have provided man with the knowledge to develop sophisticated simulators for training. This article will examine the degree of fidelity required of the simulation to ensure maximum transfer of training. A simulator is a special class of training device which attempts to reproduce or simulate the essential characteristics of a “real” system. Some of the most highly developed simulators are used in the military services for training pilots. The goal of simulators is to provide the trainee with the ability to effectively transfer skills learned to his performance on the operational equipment.
