Abstract
Long-term studies suggest that the communities of benthic invertebrates of the Kanev reservoir are formed according to the concept of the stage development of zoobenthos of lowland reservoirs. A total of 209 species of invertebrates was found in the benthic fauna of the reservoir. In recent 30 years the number of species of invertebrates of the Ponto-Caspian complex increased from 4 to 22. In recent 10−15 years the biomass of macrozoobenthos, with the exception of mollusks, accounted for 6−10 g/m2.
