Abstract

Petrographic and chemical study of fresh granite, sericitized granite, and sericite schist shows the changes characteristic of this type of alteration. The principal chemical changes were a large loss of soda and a gain of water. The difference between the sericitized granite and the sericite schist is principally in texture and structure.
