Abstract

Serum cortisol-binding globulin (CBG), thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG), thyroxine-binding prealbumin (TBPA), haptoglobin, β-glucuronidase, albumin, total serum proteins, fibrinogen, serum cortisol, non-proteinbound cortisol and serum thyroxine were studied in monkeys given ethinyl estradiol alone and ethinyl estradiol plus clomiphene citrate. Clomiphene citrate blocked completely the effects of ethinyl estradiol on TBG and serum thyroxine, and partially on CBG, cortisol, albumin and total proteins. The estrogenic effects on fibrinogen and TBPA were reversed.
