Abstract
Karyotype analysis of multiple translocation stocks of barley in which the translocated chromosomes could be distinguished from each other and from the remaining pairs revealed that chromosome 1 is not the longest chromosome in the normal karyotype. Estimates of the lengths of chromosomes 2 and 3 and the position of the breakpoints in T2-5a and T3-7d were also obtained. The data indicate that the breakpoint of T3-7d is in the short arm of chromosome 3 and not in the long arm as previously reported.
