Abstract

Abstract The Ni and Mo concentrations effect on the pyridine HDN and thiophene HDS under normal H2 pressure, on reduced or sulfided classical NiMo/Al2O3 has been studied by comparison of activities and by simultaneous analysis of the selectivity in different products. If the expected promoting effect of Ni for the HDS reaction has been found, the best catalyst for HDN was the pure Mo/Al2O3. It has also been found that the sulfided Mo catalyst is a better hydrogenating system than the reduced oxidic form and the sulfided Ni promoted catalysts. An attemp to explain the promoting effect of Ni on Mo based catalysts is given.
